Wire in bulk

It's getting harder and harder to find good wire. Most is dull and too soft to reliably hold its shape. But I lucked out recently, and I found these two rolls of wire. It's shiny, so it looks great; and it's quite stiff, so it holds it's shape nicely. The only down side is that it's a little slippery, so it's more difficult to work with than most of the wire I've used--especially for a 20 gauge wire. And the price was definitely right. I have no idea how much wire is in each roll (because they were unlabeled) but each roll was only $6.

I've got wire for months!

A Star Wars Trilogy

With the upcoming Star Wars movie, retailers are already starting to sell cool t-shirts with continuous line designs that are perfect for reproducing in wire.

Adjustable Flower Ring

These little rings are quite simple to make, and they're ape reflect for a little surprise...like attaching them to gift tags, or just to let someone know you were thinking about them (like a friendship bracelet).

Mounted Nativity Scene

This piece was a special request I received from my wife. Unlike most of my projects, it's not made of a single strand of wire. Instead, I used a single piece for each of the figures.

The backing is a cedar plank intended to be used for grilling fish. I just sanded it down and stained it China Red before adding the pieces. The plank is approximately 6 3/4" x 15 3/4".

The design is not original. It was adapted from a picture I found after searching for "nativity clip
art". It was fun, though...and she liked it.

Merry Christmas!!

Panda Gift Tag

One of my daughter's friends is a big fan of panda bears.

This was a fun way to top off her gift bag!

Teacher Gift

The backing on this project is just a cork hot pad (from Ikea) cut into the shape of an apple.  I actually stained the cork red with some wood stain I had left over from another project, but you can't really tell because of the overpowering red background.

You can't see it in this picture, but I also added a small wire base, so that the whole thing could stand at a slight angle.
